There are many reasons you may want to melt chocolate. Perhaps you’re making a bark of some kind (peppermint bark, pine tree bark, etc.) Perhaps you’re hosting fondue night. Or perhaps you want to drizzle something with chocolate.
Any excuse to drizzle chocolate is fine with me! I did so with my fruit pizza as you can see. I also drizzled some white chocolate on my Triple Chocolate Cranberry Cookies – which if I do say so myself are the best cookie I’ve ever created! I’ll be sharing that recipe with you next week!
Easy Melted Chocolate Recipe makes about 1 cup
1 cup chocolate chips of choice
1-2t vegetable oil
Though you can melt chocolate in a double boiler, this way is just as effective and way faster and easier – that is if you don’t need a ton of chocolate melted. Place chocolate in a microwave safe container and microwave uncovered for about 45-60 seconds. (Less time if melting a smaller amount of chocolate.)
Once it is lightly microwaved, you’ll see the chocolate still maintains its shape but is slightly glossy.
Stir in the vegetable oil. Start with 1 teaspoon and see if the consistency is what you’ll need. Since I wanted thin strips of chocolate, I wanted mine very thin so I used 2 teaspoons. Also, in my experience, white chocolate will need more oil than dark or milk chocolate does.
Dip berries or cookies in this, stir in a flavored extract to flavor the chocolate, or place it in a pastry bag to drizzle over goodies. Again, since I wanted a very small drizzle, I place mine in a sandwich ziploc and barely snipped the corner.
Hope this tutorial helps! Happy baking!
